LTE router for outdoor installation, ideal for the operation of surveillance cameras that have no access to network or WLAN at the installation site!
With a SIM card, the LTE router dials into the mobile network and thus supplies connected devices connected to the router to the Internet. This allows connected cameras to send the videos over the mobile network. The LTE router is also perfect for accessing the Internet.
Since the standard mobile routers have only one battery and are not suitable for continuous use, the PR1000 router is ideal for a permanent installation.
Applications for an LTE router
Barns and stables
Often, these buildings are not located in the near of housing estates, so there is no way to work with a network cable or WLAN transmission. The only way is to use a security camera with SIM card or an LTE router, if more than one camera is used.
Construction sites do not yet have network access infrastructure, but are at risk of material theft and gasoline theft. Here, in addition to surveillance cameras, other security devices can be connected to a network via an LTE router.
Most LTE routers have been designed for an indoor use. Also, many of them work with battery and not with external power supply. This is not possible with continuous use. Thus, this type of routers is not or only to a limited extent suitable for permanent use, especially for the connection of surveillance cameras.
Application for a video surveillance system
The LTE router has a network input, which allows only the connection of one network device. To extend and connect multiple devices, a network switch should be used. This switch can be used as a POE switch if the IP cameras are PoE capable. Please make sure that the provider of the SIM / prepaid card has sufficient coverage at the installation site. You can usually calculate with 1GB / month when the camera transmits the video for about 5 minutes a day.
The transfer rates are as follows:
LTE upload (The transmission of camera video signals in the mobile network) is 50Mbit, the download rate (for receiving e-mails, surfing the Internet, etc) is 150Mbit.
HSPA + upload is 5.6Mbit, download is 21Mbit
TD-SCDMA upload is 2.2Mbit, download is 2.8Mbit
