4G cameras with SIM card

4G cameras with SIM card with an extensive range and many, different models - for every application need when there is no network access via router or WiFi!

With a SIM card, our 4G cameras can be used anywhere in the world.

The camera transmits live videos and also videos recorded on the SD card directly to your smartphone or tablet, no matter where you are.

When motion is detected in front of the camera, a push message is sent to your smartphone to notify you of activity immediately.

Our 4G cameras are equipped with many practical features!

Items 1 - 5 of 5

Function of a 4G camera?

An 4G camera with SIM card transmits the videos via the built-in 4G router. This means that no network access via a WLAN router or WLAN access is required.

The SIM card establishes the connection between the camera and the mobile network, just as you are used to with your smartphone.

Apart from the built-in 4G router, the 4G camera is no different from conventional video surveillance cameras.

Thanks to the built-in 4G router, the setup is kept very simple. We provide extensive documentation with German instructions.

Our technical support team will be happy to help you find the right 4G camera, choose the right mobile phone provider and also help you set up and operate it on 02433 / 964 25 81!

What do you need to operate an 4G camera?

Please pay attention to ...
- A SIM card as a prepaid or contract card (find tips on cards here)
- Power supply (click here for more information)
- Sufficient mobile phone reception

Where can the 4G camera be used?

You can use an 4G camera for mobile communications in most places worldwide. There are no restrictions here if the mobile phone reception at the installation location is sufficient.

How can recordings be made with the camera?

There are 4 recording modes for all LTE cameras in our portfolio:

- Continuous Recording / Live Video Streaming

The 4G camera records continuously (24/7). We recommend the use of an SD card from Sandisk, series "Extreme" with 128GB memory.
With this card you can record for about 3 days before the card is automatically reloaded.

- Recording on motion

The 4G camera is equipped with video motion detection. When motion is detected in front of the camera, recording to the SD card starts immediately.
The motion detection can be set by zone and sensitivity.
In addition, the camera offers the option of automatically transferring the alarm video sequence to an ftp server when motion is detected.

- Recording according to calendar function

The 4G camera records to SD card at set times. A calendar function is available for this purpose, which can be set according to weekdays and hours.
These 3 above-mentioned recording modes can also be combined.

- Recording of individual images for e.g. construction progress (time-lapse video)

After entering a time unit (e.g. every 15 minutes), the LTE camera records a single image and sends the image to an ftp server. This allows you to create a construction progress video after the construction phase has been completed.

Where can the recordings be saved?

The videos are stored on the SD card. If PC software is used (available as a download in our shop under the respective product), the videos can also be saved on the PC.
In addition, it is possible to transfer data (individual images or video sequences in the event of an alarm) to an ftp server.

How will I be informed in the event of an alarm if the camera has detected movement?

If the 4G camera has detected a movement, you will be informed with a push message to your mobile phone.

How can the recordings be viewed?

The live video and the video recorded on the SD card can be viewed via APP on your smartphone, tablet or also via the free software.

We recommend the free APP "CamHi PRO", which you can download from the Playstore (for Android devices) and the Applestore (for iOS Apple phones).

For use on a PC, we recommend the free PC software HiP2P Client, which you can find as a download on the respective product page.

Can the videos also be recorded with audio?

Yes, some models are equipped with a built-in microphone and built-in loudspeaker.

What does the WiFi hotspot in the camera mean?

Our LTE cameras set up their own WiFi hotspot when they are switched on.

This allows you to access the camera with your mobile phone in the immediate vicinity to set up various parameters.

The great advantage of this WiFi hotspot is that you can operate additional WiFi cameras that can send their video streams via the LTE camera into the mobile network. This means that it is not necessary to use additional SIM cards when using a 2nd or 3rd camera.

The condition for this is that the additional WiFi cameras are located no further than 12 - 15 metres from the LTE camera.

In addition to WiFi cameras, other WiFi devices such as alarm systems, WiFi motion detectors and sensors can also be connected.

Additional information about the function and set-up of additional WiFi cameras can be found on our page

Can the 4G cameras with SIM-card also record at night?

Our 4G cameras are equipped with built-in infrared night vision LEDs.
These LEDs operate in a frequency range above our visual spectrum, i.e. also above our colour spectrum. The camera's sensor also works in this range, so that the scene is recorded as bright as day even in absolute darkness. For the human eye, only a slight reddish glow is perceptible, but for the camera sensor it is as bright as day.

In IR LED mode, the images are black and white, but with the same level of detail as daytime images.

The range of the infrared night vision LED depends on the type of LTE camera: LTE fixed cameras have a shorter range than PTZ 4G cameras (P for pan = turn, T for tilt, Z for zoom = zoom in). Fixed cameras have a range of about 25 - 35 metres, PTZ cameras 40 metres to 80 metres.

What is the function of the signs shown in the APP in full screen mode (with the light bulb sign)?

The basic setting "Normal" lets the camera work in colour mode during the day and in IR night vision mode in the dark.

The setting "colour" switches off the IR mode and the camera operates only in colour mode.

"Auto" describes the white light mode, which is not available with all cameos. When motion is detected, the white light LEDs are switched on as a deterrent.

Does the IR LED light up in the dark?

The built-in IR night vision LEDs operate in a frequency band of 850nm, which is just about what the human eye perceives. The LEDs therefore shine dimly at night. Animals are not irritated by the weak LED light, as they only perceive the weak reddish glow.

Are the cameras also suitable for outdoor use?

Our 4G cameras with SIM-card are classified in protection class IP66 / IP67 and are therefore suitable for robust outdoor use (IP66 = protection against water jets). Only the 360° 4G camera P3600 is only suitable for indoor use.

Attaching the 4G camera

The 4G cameras have a ¼" tripod connection that accepts any type of mount. A wall bracket is included with the fixed cameras and the PTZ 4G cameras.

SD card slot

Every 4G camera in our portfolio has an SD card slot for micro SD cards. The maximum storage capacity is 128GB. We recommend the use of a Sandisk "Extreme memory card with 128GB memory. This card has proven its worth to us for many years.

Information about the built-in lenses

The information in the data sheets describes the lens used with its focal length.

The smaller the focal length, the larger the angle of view.

There are fixed focal lengths with a fixed angle of view (the most common are 2.8mm focal length (100°), 3.6mm (85°) and 6mm (65°)).

PTZ cameras usually have a motorised zoom lens with a variable focal length: here the most common image angles are 2.8mm (100°) to 12mm (25°).

If the angle of view is known and also remains the same, it is more advisable to use a fixed focal length, as the quality of the lens is often better.

Example: In a rectangular room, a fixed focal length of 3.6mm should actually always be used. Likewise, when monitoring rectangular areas, the furthest object should not be more than 30 metres away.

If the fixed focal length is used outdoors, remember that objects will appear further away the wider the angle of view. An object 25 metres away will appear further away with a 90° angle of view than a lens with a 60° angle. Therefore, when details are important, a smaller angle of view should be chosen if possible.

When working with an 4G PTZ camera, the variable focal length is the better choice, as the angle of view is adjusted according to the zoom factor.

The image resolution of an 4G camera

Meanwhile, the 2 megapixel resolution, also called Full HD or 1080P, has become established in video security technology. This achieves a good balance between image and storage space.

Lower resolutions such as 1.3MP are mainly used indoors, as the distance to the object is usually not great and a lower resolution is sufficient.

Outdoors, on the other hand, when details at greater distances are important, the higher resolution of 4 or 5 megapixels is more likely to be chosen.

When choosing the resolution, however, it is always important to bear in mind that more megapixels require more transmission rates and also more storage space.

On the other hand, the 5 megapixel sensor has the same area as the 2 MP sensor, but has 2.5 times as many pixels. This means that the light sensitivity of a 4MP or 5MP camera is lower than that of a 2MP camera.
Cameras with a resolution of more than 5 megapixels are rarely used (large-scale car park surveillance, airfields).

Advantage of high resolution:

- High level of detail, details even at a greater distance.

Disadvantage high resolution

- More bandwidth required for smooth transmission

- More storage space for archiving video files

Applications of 4G cameras with SIM card

Monitoring of livestock buildings

The monitoring and control of animals is important not only for birth control, checking the care of the animals and behaviour, but also for the prevention of cruelty to animals and theft. Here, effective monitoring with LTE cameras can be carried out with quite little effort.

Pasture areas

Larger pastures can be monitored very effectively with a PTZ 4G camera. This is also where the advantage of zoom lenses (up to 22x optical zoom) comes into play. Also well suited for paddocks and flocks of sheep.

Construction sites

Here, the focus is on both the theft of materials and damage to construction machinery as well as the evaluation of the construction project in the form of construction progress documentation. Many applications cover both theft and construction progress with a camera.

Barns

The protection of barns, which usually do not have a network connection, is another interesting field of application for 4G cameras with mobile radio. In addition to agricultural machinery, it is also vintage car owners who want to protect their property.

Holiday homes worldwide

Holiday properties are particularly at risk during the time when no guests occupy the property. Here, it is an advantage that the owner can access the camera from anywhere and notify the local police or neighbours in case of danger.

LTE cameras in the area of goods transport and cash in transit

In addition to the standard models, we also carry extremely small 4G cameras, which are very similar to the well-known rear view cameras. The space requirement is very small and the 4G function allows the video data to be transmitted in real time via the mobile network at any time, independent of the network and WiFi.

The power supply of 4G cameras

Power supply 12V / 230V

All our LTE cameras are supplied with a 12V power supply unit.

PV system as power source

As the cameras work with a 12V power supply, a small photovoltaic system is the best solution.

We recommend a 100Wp panel (costs incl. panel, charge controller, 100Ah battery, cable and mounting kit about 270€) with a 100Ah battery for the operation of our cameras, if the camera is operated over 12 months a year.

If the camera is only active from March to October, a 40Ah battery is usually sufficient.

Single battery or rechargeable battery

If you only want to work with batteries that are charged regularly, we recommend using a 100Ah battery for 6 - 7 days. This is enough to operate the camera and not cause the battery to go into deep discharge.

How much power does an 4G camera consume?

On average, you can assume 12A per 24 hours. The 4G cameras have an average current requirement of about 500mA.
